BJD Alleges CBI Hid Facts in Odisha SI Recruitment Scam

Bhubaneswar: Opposition party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has accused the CBI of concealing important facts in the chargesheet filed in the multi-crore sub-inspector (SI) recruitment scam in Odisha. The party has demanded a deeper investigation to identify senior-level officials involved in the case.
Addressing a press conference, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty alleged that the CBI made a “deliberate attempt” to protect influential people. He claimed that the chargesheet has revealed less and hidden more, especially regarding the role of government officials.

Mohanty pointed out that while the chargesheet named the owner of Silicon Techlab as the main accused and the owner of Panchsoft Technology along with 14 others as associates, it did not name any official from the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) or the Home Department, under which the recruitment was conducted.
He said the failure of the OPRB and the Home Department allowed such a large scam to happen and demanded that officials responsible be held accountable. Mohanty also said the role of those who approved outsourcing the recruitment process must be investigated.
The Odisha government had recommended a CBI probe in October 2025. Earlier, the Crime Branch arrested 125 people, including 114 job aspirants, who allegedly paid Rs 10 lakh each as advance bribes, with another Rs 25 lakh promised after selection.
Around 1.53 lakh candidates had applied for 933 SI posts in the Odisha Police, Fire Service and Forest Department. The recruitment process was put on hold after the scam came to light
