Tension was seen in Bhawanipatna over cattle smuggling.
Residents stopped a trailer loaded with cows and demanded a complete ban on cattle transport. The vehicle was reportedly carrying cattle illegally from Nuapada to Andhra Pradesh.
After getting information, cow protection groups first intercepted the vehicle and informed the police. The driver and the owner were beaten by locals and later handed over to the police.
According to locals, the cattle were being transported illegally. People stopped the trailer and questioned the driver.
Police later reached the spot, seized the trailer, and arranged to send the cattle to a safe place.
On Sunday, illegal beef was also seized from Bandelguda village under the same police station.
Locals have demanded a complete ban on cattle smuggling and strict action against those involved.
