Lack of Coordination Between Electricity and Public Works Departments
Deogarh: Electric poles are standing dangerously in the middle of the road, creating a serious hazard. This situation can be seen on the road stretch from Lalu Sahi Square to the ADM quarters, passing through the Women’s College up to Olatbat and Rath Pada in Deogarh district.
On one hand, there are clear instructions that electric poles should be shifted before starting road construction. On the other hand, such work is being carried out in open violation of rules. As per norms, the Public Works Department should first inform the Electricity Department to relocate the poles to the roadside before beginning construction.
However, even after the road work is nearly half completed, the poles still remain in the middle, causing inconvenience and danger to the public. In particular, the presence of a transformer in front of the ADM quarters has made the road extremely narrow, increasing the risk of a serious accident at any time.
Despite so much time having passed, the inaction of the Electricity Department raises concerns about public safety. When contacted regarding the issue, the Public Works Department engineer did not provide any satisfactory response.
