To provide drinking water to the people living in Panasa Panchayat near Jajpur Town, the previous government a few years ago had arranged a large borewell system and supplied drinking water to the villagers. But due to lack of water pressure, the little water that came had a high iron content, which caused the utensils used in households to turn yellow. After the villagers met the District Collector, a water tank of about 200 feet height was constructed right next to the borewell site under the Basudha scheme. The purpose of this was that along with proper water pressure, villagers would get clean and safe water.
But now the opposite situation is being seen. Due to very poor quality construction, the tank has cracked and water is flowing into agricultural fields, while the villagers are not getting even a drop of water. Even after informing the district administration and the Sarpanch, no help has been received. Therefore, having no other option, the villagers installed tube wells in their own land. Unfortunately, due to excessive heat, the water level is not being found, and the tube wells have stopped yielding water. Because of this, the people of Panasa are struggling badly for a drop of water.
Now the question arises that if water is not available from the beginning of summer, then what will the local residents do for the next three months? What action will the Mohan government take regarding the irregularities in the Basudha tank built by the previous government? How the people will get pure and clean water is now a matter of concern for everyone.
