26 Naxalites Surrender in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma District

In a major success for anti-Naxal operations, 26 Naxalites surrendered before police and CRPF officials in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Among them, 13 carried a collective bounty of ₹65 lakh, and seven were women. Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said the surrendered cadres were active members of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) across the South Bastar, Maad and Andhra–Odisha Border divisions, and were involved in several incidents of violence in Sukma, Abujhmad and adjoining areas of Odisha. The Naxalites cited disillusionment with Maoist ideology and expressed confidence in the state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy. Each surrendered cadre was provided ₹50,000 as immediate assistance and will be further rehabilitated as per government norms.
