The residents of a village behind Satsang Vihar in Nuapada fixed the broken drain on their own after failing to get any response from the authorities.
The cover of the drain located on the road between the village and NH 353 was broken down entirely, posing great trouble. Over twenty families are dependent on this road; also, people from a nearby village named Telipada use it frequently.
As a result of the breakage, no vehicles can travel through the road; only pedestrians can walk there. The construction work in a few houses is also hampered as JCB, tractor, cylinder delivery vehicle, and sanitation trucks cannot enter the locality.
The issue also caused concern regarding emergencies as it will be impossible for an ambulance to reach the village if it is needed.
Despite contacting the concerned officers, no response was received from the department. In the end, some local youths stepped up and restored the drain with their own efforts.
