Thackeray Cousins Slam Unopposed Wins in BMC Polls

Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray criticised the unopposed election of ruling alliance candidates in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, calling it an “insult to democracy.” The Thackeray cousins said such uncontested victories weaken democratic competition and deny voters a real choice.
Ahead of the civic elections, the two leaders jointly released their manifesto, focusing on key urban issues. The manifesto promises affordable housing, the creation of a separate municipal housing authority, and improvements in water supply, waste management, roads, public transport, healthcare, and education across Mumbai. The joint move signals a coordinated attempt to challenge the ruling alliance in the country’s richest civic body
