14 Maoists Killed in Twin Encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma and Bijapur

At least fourteen Maoists were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning, marking the first major clash between Maoists and security personnel this year.
The encounters took place in Sukma district and the neighbouring Bijapur district during anti-Naxal operations carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG). Acting on specific intelligence inputs about Maoist movement in forest areas, DRG teams launched coordinated search operations.
An exchange of fire followed when security forces came face to face with armed Maoists. After the encounters, bodies of the slain Maoists were recovered from both locations. Security forces also seized weapons and other materials from the encounter sites.
Search operations are still underway in the surrounding areas to ensure no Maoist presence remains. No casualties have been reported on the security forces’ side so far. Authorities said further details are awaited as the operation continues.
