A Joint Public Grievance Hearing Camp of the district administration of Puri was organized at the block office premises of Delanga Block under the chairmanship of the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sarat Chandra Behera.
During the hearing camp, a total of 74 grievances were considered, out of which 58 were individual grievances, while 16 related to communities. After considering the grievances, the ADM instructed the concerned departmental officers to make inquiry and take necessary action. The concerned departmental officers were also instructed to send the report regarding the actions taken by them to the District Collector.
But there was an event during the hearing camp that is now grabbing the attention of people. During the grievance hearing, the In-Charge Medical Officer of the Delanga Community Health Centre, Dr. Santun Kumar Jena, was allegedly found sleeping on his chair.
While the local residents were waiting in queue to file their grievances and senior officials, including the ADM, Sub-Collector, Block Development Officer, and Tahsildar, were dealing with public grievances, a video of the concerned officer being asleep has gone viral on social media platforms.
The whole issue has brought out a discussion among people living in that locality on how much attention the authorities pay to the programs meant for hearing grievances from the public. The state government organizes the camps in an effort to attend to the needs of the public.
It is yet to be seen what action would be taken in this regard.
