India’s Russian Oil Imports Hit 6-Month High in November 2025; U.S. Supplies Also Rise

India’s crude oil imports from Russia rose to a six-month high in November 2025, reflecting New Delhi’s continued focus on securing affordable energy supplies amid global market uncertainties. At the same time, imports from the United States also increased sharply, highlighting India’s strategy of diversifying its oil sources.

Data shows that Russia and the U.S. together accounted for nearly half of India’s total crude oil imports during the month. Russian oil remained attractive due to discounted prices, while higher U.S. imports were driven by competitive rates and stable supply.

Energy experts say India is balancing its purchases to ensure energy security, cost efficiency, and supply stability, especially as global crude prices remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions and production decisions by major oil-producing countries.
The trend underlines India’s growing role as a major global oil buyer and its ability to adapt sourcing strategies based on market conditions, despite international pressures and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
