External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the funeral of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Dhaka today, representing the Government and people of India.
Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh’s first woman Prime Minister, passed away yesterday at the age of 80. The funeral prayers will be held at 2 PM at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and Manik Mia Avenue. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
Leaders and representatives from South and Southeast Asian countries are expected to attend the ceremony.
