A severe cold wave has swept across Odisha, bringing harsh winter conditions to many parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jharsuguda recorded the lowest temperature at 6.3°C.

Several other regions also saw a sharp fall in temperatures. Rourkela recorded 7.1°C, Keonjhar 8.8°C, Hirakud 10.6°C, and Sambalpur 10.8°C. The biting cold has made daily life difficult, especially during early morning and night hours.
Adding to the trouble, a thick blanket of fog has covered many areas of Odisha. Coastal and northern regions are the worst affected, with visibility dropping below 200 metres, as per satellite data. This has caused disruptions in travel and daily activities. Some parts of southern Odisha are also facing similar foggy conditions.
Authorities have advised people to take precautions against the cold and poor visibility as winter conditions continue to intensify.
