Police in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh have arrested two men for allegedly assaulting and trying to strip an on-duty woman constable during an anti-mining protest on December 27. The incident came to light after a disturbing video went viral on social media, showing the constable lying on the ground, crying and begging the attackers to stop.
In the video, the men are seen tearing her uniform, abusing her, and threatening her, even as she pleads for mercy and says she was posted there from another area. The video was reportedly recorded by protesters themselves and later shared by the All India Mahila Congress.
The violence took place during protests against a coal mining project affecting 14 villages in the Gare Palma Sector-1 area. On the day of the incident, hundreds of villagers had blocked a road, leading to clashes with police. Authorities said the matter is being investigated further and strict action will be taken against those involved.
