Press conference was held by BJD’s district unit at Hotel Nirupama, in the Mahishapat area of Odisha to highlight the issues related to the worsening law and order situation in the state.
The discussion in this meeting was headed by District BJD President Dr. Nrusingha Sahu and included in it former MLA Sudhir Samal, Zilla Parishad Chairman along with other party women and youth leaders of different blocks.
In the address to the press, Dr. Nrusingha Sahu said that the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi could not handle the Home department under his jurisdiction efficiently. He accused him of failing to curb rising criminal acts in the state as every day new cases were being reported.
Speaking about the latest murders like that of Balianta case and Kanas incident as well as rape case in Bhapur, the leaders of BJD blamed police administration for remaining inactive towards such serious cases.
Another former MLA and State Secretary of BJD, Sudhir Kumar Samal, has called for tougher steps against criminals in Odisha. According to him, the Chief Minister of the state must give orders to all SPs in the districts to get the criminals into control within 24 to 48 hours. He went on to say that tough actions like suspending the SPs who failed to curb criminals will definitely work wonders.
The leaders of BJD have threatened to up the ante in their protest movement against the law and order situation in Odisha, if nothing positive happens in the next few days.
Many office-bearers and other leaders of the BJD at the district level attended the media briefing.
