Paradip Bottle Bomb Attack Sparks Political Row, Labour Leader Responds

An explosion bomb blast in front of the house of Chairman of Paradip Municipality, Basanta Kumar Biswal, has raised a political controversy.

It occurred on 30th May. After taking the matter very seriously, the Superintendent of Police of Jagatsinghpur, Ankit Kumar Verma, rushed to the spot immediately after knowing about the occurrence. Three people have been caught in connection with this and were also produced in court. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to locate another accused named Bapu Parida.

Now this matter has become not just a criminal case but is turning out to be a political one. In this regard, on Sunday, the leaders and followers of Congress, BJP, BJD, Communists and Paradip Citizens’ Forum conducted an agitation programme and demanded that labor leader Bapi Sarkhel too be included in the probe like Bapu Parida.

In reply to the accusation levelled against him, Bapi Sarkhel held a press meet in Paradip on Monday. He has denied all the allegations against him and claimed that some forces are trying to divert the attention of the people from the issue of soil lifting.

Sarkhel accused that two of the labour leaders were plotting against him and misleading the citizens. He said he had full confidence in the police investigation.

While the investigations are ongoing in multiple directions, it has created accusations and counter-accusations for many political parties and labour unions. The matter has created a political tension within Paradip and has been exploited by people from various sections in order to hit back at their opponents.

In the press conference, Sarkhel also attacked some of the labour leaders with allegations of a criminal background, indirectly attacking the leaders of other political parties.

With investigations ongoing, all focus is on the future developments in an increasingly sensational issue in Paradip.
