Jal Shakti Ministry Denies Social Media Claims on Image Misuse in Jal Sanchay Awards

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has strongly rejected allegations on social media that images were misused in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) Awards. The Ministry clarified that these claims are false and misleading.

The Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative was launched on 6 September 2024 with the aim of turning water conservation into a people’s movement. The programme encourages the creation of low-cost water recharge solutions, such as rainwater harvesting systems, recharge pits, and revival of unused borewells.
According to the Ministry, the entire initiative is closely monitored through the JSJB Dashboard. Each project is tracked using GIS location data, geo-tagged photographs, and financial records. All submitted entries go through a multi-level verification process. At least 1% of the projects are physically verified on the ground, while the rest are checked through desk verification.

The Ministry also clarified an important point: the “Catch the Rain” portal is a separate platform. Images uploaded on that portal are not used for selecting winners of the JSJB Awards.
The Ministry assured that the award process is transparent, monitored, and properly verified, and urged people not to believe misleading information spread on social media.
