Bhadrak Villagers Forced to Queue for Hours for Drinking Water

An alarming scenario depicting the failure in the execution of government projects has come to light from the Bhadrak district of Odisha, with people desperately fighting for a single drop of water while there is a project worth crores in the region.

This news has surfaced from the Dolapadi Adivasi Sahi area situated under Nilok Panchayat in Bant Block of the district, with more than 200 tribal families experiencing the problem of drinking water. Despite the existence of an overhead water tank of considerable size, locals claim that the water tank is not providing any water.

It is evident from the ordeal that the situation is really desperate. Among the two tube wells in the area, one is out of order since ages gone by. As a result, the entire village relies on the other tube well for their drinking water needs.

The reason why the villagers have become even more frustrated with the administration is because lakhs of rupees were spent to build a big water tank to solve the issue of drinking water. But because of negligence on the part of the administration, there isn’t even a single drop of water for the villagers from that project.

It has resulted in the project becoming just a mere show off for the government but not helping solve the real problem for which the villagers were demanding it.

Team Focus Plus brought the issue to the notice of Bant BDO, Sitakanta Rout, of the serious drinking water problem faced by the tribal community. The BDO took cognizance of the complaint and said that action will be taken shortly to address the issue of drinking water problem.

Though there have been some promises made, the villagers are eagerly waiting for when those promises will translate to action and when more than 200 families from Dolapadi Adivasi Sahi will be able to drink their share of water.
