Mayurbhanj: An alarming health crisis situation has occurred in Kakabandha Ashram School located in Rasgovindpur block of Mayurbhanj district, where reportedly more than 140 students became sick after eating contaminated food.Mayurbhanj food poisoning
As per reports, the sick students have been admitted to Rasgovindpur hospital due to diarrhea and vomiting symptoms. While some seriously ill students have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital of Baripada.
Students eating food which was not according to the prescribed menu are said to be the cause of this problem. While hostel authorities say that upma and later pakhala was provided to the students, they have said that the students were provided with pakhala and boiled potatoes and not the proper breakfast.
There is irregularity regarding following the food menu from the hostel management’s side. The health condition of the students has alarmed the parents and others resulting in a highly charged environment at the hospital.
After being informed about the issue, Morada MLA and minister, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra visited the hospital.
The CDMO (Chief District Medical Officer) of Mayurbhanj inspected the hospital on Monday and mentioned that the current condition is under control. Apart from this, Former MLA, Raj Kishore Das and Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo, both visited the hospital to inquire about their well-being.
Moreover, Krushna Chandra Das, district president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, pointed out blatant negligence in ensuring health care for the students living in dormitories.
