5 Delhi Police Personnel Injured as Anti-Encroachment Drive Near Mosque Turns Violent

New Delhi: At least five Delhi Police personnel were injured after an anti-encroachment drive conducted by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) near a mosque in the Ramlila Maidan area turned violent early on Wednesday.
According to officials, the demolition drive was carried out in an encroached area near Faiz-e-Elahi Masjid at Turkman Gate. Tensions escalated when a section of locals opposed the removal of unauthorised structures, leading to clashes with security personnel deployed at the site.

Authorities had deployed heavy police force to maintain law and order as around 17 bulldozers were brought in for the operation. The injured police personnel were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Senior officials said the situation was later brought under control and the demolition drive was temporarily halted. An investigation has been initiated to identify those involved in the violence, while additional security has been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.
