Highlighting Welfare Demands
Many issues and demands regarding the well-being of the journalists have been raised by journalists in Koraput district. As a result of efforts taken by the Utkal Journalists Association, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister via District Collector on Friday.
Journalists of the district unit of the association went on a rally and proceeded to the Office of the District Collector where they submitted a six-point charter of demands pertaining to betterment of the status of the journalists.

Some of the major demands are providing health insurance facility upon retirement, raising the amount of death assistance from 4 lakhs to 10 lakhs, and setting up accommodation facility including Press Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Further, inclusion of parents and children above 25 years old in the Gopabandhu Health Insurance Scheme has also been demanded by the association.
During the submission of the memorandum, district secretary Nrusingha Charan Brahma was present with many journalists of different blocks of the district.
