Family Alleges Police Inaction in Rayagada Nikhil Murder Case

Following the high-profile Hadapa Nikhil shooting case, furious people organized a procession of their dead brother through the Town Police Station and raised slogans against the administration by bursting firecrackers. In addition, they set fire to the motorcycle of the dead youngster.
On behalf of his dead son, Hadapa Shiva urged the authorities to immediately arrest the murderers and threatened to conduct an agitation unless immediate measures were taken to solve the murder mystery.
There was a state of fear and alarm in the city of Rayagada following the shooting of Nikhil, a 19-year-old boy, by some unknown culprits in the lane of Indira Nagar on Saturday evening. Subsequently, he was kidnapped in a Bolero car and brutally murdered.

Demanding the arrest of those who caused the crime, his relatives and locals conducted a protest and encircled the Rayagada police station since Sunday morning. Post-mortem having been performed, the body was finally handed over to his grieving parents last night.

In the process of carrying the body for performing the last rites on the body of Nikhil, Nikhil’s father issued a strong statement against the police. The father claimed that despite writing a complaint letter to the Rayagada police soon after the kidnapping of Nikhil in which the family warned that the life of Nikhil is in danger, the police did not take any appropriate action against the accused people.

As per the allegation by Nikhil’s family, if the police had taken immediate actions then Nikhil would have been rescued and could have survived.

Also, Nikhil’s parents informed the media about some people whose names were identified as Umesh, Sadam, and many others who were involved in killing Nikhil. Parents have blamed the police for their inefficiency in making the arrest.

The body of Nikhil had been retrieved from the Nagabali riverbed location.
