However, a disagreement arose between the servitors, resulting in the suspension of the Chandan Yatra ceremony, whereby the boat carrying the deities got stranded in the pond.
In the ninth day of the Chandan Yatra ceremony, it became impossible for the deities to carry out the “Chapa Khela,” as they had always done, due to some disagreement between the servitor communities. Consequently, the deities, including Lord Madanmohan, Ramakrishna, and Panchapandava, continued sitting on the boat, without the ceremony being performed.
There was great disappointment among the devotees who had not been able to watch the holy ceremony as planned. The dispute arose between the communities of Singharis Nijog and Sadu Suar Nijog about boarding on the Chapa boat, causing the cancellation of the night ceremony.
The attempts by the authorities to solve the problem went in vain for a considerable period. The deities sat in the boat for nearly four hours from about 9:15 PM.
