12-Hour Bandh in Birmaharajpur Over Alleged Desecration of Lord Ram Photo

There is a ban on traffic for 12 hours in the area of Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur district after an incident where the photograph of Lord Shri Ram was allegedly torn up on April 14. The bandh has been called by the Subarnapur units of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal.

As per the report, the incident took place in a procession on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. There was a claim that the photograph of Lord Shri Ram, placed at the main square, was removed and torn. This created an atmosphere of tension in the area for sometime.

The incident has received reactions from different quarters. There is also a complaint lodged at the police station by the Bajrang Dal, asking for stern action against the culprits.

As a result of the bandh, all types of establishments, including shops, markets, transport system, educational institutions like schools, colleges, and offices have been closed in the area. Members of VHP and Bajrang Dal organized protests in the main square, shouting slogans.

Police contingents have been posted at strategic locations to control the situation.
