Social Media labeled as the Fifth Pillar;

Press meet convened by District Congress

The District Congress conducted a press meet at Congress Bhawan, Phulbani, Kandhamal district. Present on the occasion were PCC chief Chandra Parida, National Youth Congress media secretary Raja Ahamat, Youth Congress president and others.

In this regard, while conducting a programme on Constitution-maker Babasaheb Ambedkar, Congress labeled social media as the Fifth Pillar. According to Raja Ahamat, the Fifth Pillar has been created considering the problematics faced by people regarding social media, oppression of the voice of the people, deletion of videos, and harassment on social media.

The speaker wished that, with the help of social media, Congress will reach the people and solve their problems. However, he stated that there is an immense pressure on the fourth pillar, media, from the government. That is why the fifth pillar, i.e., social media, came into existence. According to him, they can charge their mobiles and become independent and speak out against injustice.

In addition, the speaker pointed out that in case of any kind of difficulty, one can access their system and inform them. They will offer assistance of all types, be it legal or others.
