As in other years, Hinjilicut will see an elaborate celebration. The birth festival of Lord Lakshmi Nrusingha Thakur, the deity who rules the city, will take place with much fanfare.
The installation of sacred posts (Shubha Khunti Sthapana), which marks the start of the three-day festivity, took place traditionally on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya day according to centuries-old customs. It is planned that the festival would begin from the 30th of this month.
Traditionally, the ritual of seeking permission (Agyadesh) began the proceedings after which the Agyamala (garland of divine consent) was taken out from the temple of Lakshmi Nrusingha in an elaborate procession with accompaniment of musical instruments.

Thereafter, sacred posts were erected at various locations in the town like Keuta Sahi, Ranguni Sahi, and Patana Sahi. People took part actively in the processions and the proceedings.
The three-day festival will soon begin and hence the town seems to be bustling with festivities. Full preparation work for the same is being done by the administrative authorities and organizing committee.
